In which Ant attempts to be less of the Epic Fail!

Today, I am off work sick, and therefore I shall try to catch up with LJ. This is an Epic Quest, which will surely be fraught with peril, however I shall DO MY BEST!!! So please be expecting insanely belated comments from me that you've likely forgotten what they're referring to and are therefore kind of confusing. XP

So, because it's been so long since I posted, I guess I should limit this to just the really important things. Like TV, obviously.


1. I can't believe I haven't even made Maou reaction posts yet! Clearly this is full of witty and insightful commentary, all of which is very deep and not shallow at all.



I love the epic beginning with all the symbolism and dying brother and so forth. Also, Riida looks especially hot. And there are close-ups of his hands. Ant = very happy.

Hello, Riida-in-the-shower!! Hello, Riida-in-a-towel! Hello, Riida-putting-on-a-shirt. Okay, let's watch that part again. To observe his really fine acting skills.

LOL, so the first time I watched this, I thought that he had those cards there in his red room because CLEARLY ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE DOING CARD TRICKS THESE DAYS! It totally fits, no? Riida has more idol pics on his wall than I do!! He is such a fangirl.

LOL, that guy with the big nose! Is it like his life's mission to act in dramas with everyone in Arashi or something??

Tarot card. Toma running. Oooh, chance meeting in the hallway!!! Riida looks especially hot here!!

Okay, so this girl bugs me. She bugs me like the girl from Honey & Clover bugged me, though admittedly not as much. I'm almost sure it's not because she's Riida's love interest, but rather that I hate that type of character, the girl who is all sweet and pure and a little bit ethereal, shown by how they wear wafty white dresses and such.

ROFL, HELLO KUMA!! DON'T BE PICKING ON PEOPLE, YANKUMI TAUGHT YOU BETTER THAN THAT!

Hello plot! I hope you don't mind if I pretty much ignore you, even though you're awesome. Hello stuffy rich guys who are a total contrast to Toma in his street clothes!

I love the use of colour/lighting in this show, how there's evil!Riida with the red and long shadows and so forth, and the Toma/police stuff is all a sort of dingy brown and the Spooky girl (I am totally stealing missmomoko's name for her from her hilarious post here, because it's just too fitting) is in white, and in open, airy sort of spaces. And then the flashbacks are so much brighter than the present day, as if they stand out so much more vividly in Toma and Riida's memories. It's clever! This show is so clever! I love it!

Toma finds the tarot card. He hates tarot cards on account of this one time he had his fortune read and they told him he'd probably never debut. Okay, that was mean and now I feel bad. But honestly JUDGMENT, TOMA! What do you think it means??? Remember that one time you killed a guy and didn't get into trouble for it??

You wouldn't think a tiny little knife like that would do so much damage, hey.

I love this whole sequence, with the hymn over the top of the other stuff, and Spooky looking all innocent and then Riida's evil look at the end. So awesome!!!

LOL, Toma says he doesn't believe in that kind of thing, but I think that really HE WANTS TO BELIEVE!! Hey, does the X-Files movie start this week???

Over the Rainbow!! Why have Arashi never recorded a cover of this song? Why?

Riida should never be making that sad face! It breaks my heart!!

Hello again, plot! You are awesome! Though, Toma, why are you not yet suspicious of Riida? Ahhh, Riida is way too clever, it is so awesome! With the letters and the tape recorder and everything!! You know what Toma should do, if he was a really clever detective? He should make a special broadcast just to a specific region in Tokyo (though he says it's live across the world) to see how the killer reacts! And then he should set up 24 hour surveillance! And THEN he should handcuff himself to Riida. That's totally what I'd do, if I were a detective.

Just randomly, I totally want Maou/Phoenix Wright crossover. How much would that be the most awesome thing ever!! Okay, so now I really want a Maou icon that says "OBJECTION!" in Phoenix Wright font. Why has nobody made these?

This face-off bit when Toma is like "how would you feel if you lost somebody precious to you" and Riida is like "oh what, you mean like my brother that you killed, lolz" is like the most awesome thing ever.

LOL, Spooky is freaked out by running!Toma. I like her dress in this bit. Seriously though, all she can see is his hands? Like his really, incredibly sexy hands that are also incredibly distinctive? I kind of like the contrast of her saying about Riida having no heart, then cutting to him being all heartbroken and whatnot.

Riida should never be making that sad face either. It is way too sad for me to handle. Yes, the evil face is much better, thank you!!! XD

OMG, HELLO NINO!! HELLO SCENE THAT IS TOTALLY WITHOUT REASON EXCEPT TO GIVE US ALL A ZILLION MAGAZINE SPREADS OF OHMIYA HANDHOLDING AND OTHER AWESOMENESS!! HELLO EXTREME SEXUAL TENSION!! Nino looks so much older here than usual! Gah, this is awesomely hot, it's practically porn. Nino totally has to reappear at a later stage, no?

Why is Toma wearing a netball bib to re-enact the crime? THE GUY WAS STABBED, HE WASN'T OFFSIDE! It's an awesome scene though, how it's cut between the flashbacks and Toma freaking out and Riida's steely glare.

Okay, Toma so the plea is the same, plz start putting things together!

Poor angsty Toma!! Though, I am fully on Riida's side, because he is smart and awesome and I love him!





2. And episode two!



Riida, if you keep showing up everywhere Toma is, eventually he'll get suspicious. Possibly.

LOL, I love that Toma's dad offers Riida a job at the old lawyer's funeral. This is obviously where Toma has inherited his awesome deductive reasoning skillz from. Okay, I will never get tired of looking at that evil smirk. It is like all the awesome in the world condensed into one little man. XDDDD

More sad flashbacks! Poor Riida!!

LOL, what an awesome drinking party! With a handy photo of them in school around they time they killed Riida's brother, just in case we hadn't made the connection. LOL, Riida comes in all like "I hear you guys have a delicious cake!", and Toma is like "I wonder why this guy shows up everywhere I go and keeps giving me those penetrating stares."

Riida looks very pretty while sniffing lillies. I am ignoring Spooky girl.

The moon card!! And a letter! Don't they have like handwriting analysis or something??? Yes, Mr Head Detective Man, why Toma, indeed! Someone with a grudge, you're getting warmer!!

LOL, you'd think Toma's brother's wife would realise not to call him at work. Clearly, you can marry into kind-of-dull-wits.

That's right, Spooky Girl, Riida just sprung you psychicing around in his brain and now he's going to kill you. WITH HOTNESS!! Oh, Riida, your sad story breaks my heart and I kind of can't hate Spooky Girl for crushing on you. Plus, that lip gloss looks mighty fine on you.

Kuma, you're kind of not really scary at all. Oooh, cleaning lady got a box! Kuma would be good at running a bar, on account of he has experience in hospitality from taking over his dad's ramen shop.

What is Riida up to, going for coffee at that girl's shop? I do not approve of this at all. Unless he has some super clever plan that involves her taking all the blame in the end or something, because that would be awesome. LOL, Toma is jealous that Riida is stalking someone else!

Tarot card, yay! Conveniently delivered while on the phone to Toma! But oh, I don't want Kuma to die!! I suppose it can't be helped, he has the TEDDY BEAR OF DOOM. Oh, that is so clever. But wtf, Kuma isn't bleeding, he's having an asthma attack, is he allergic to guns or something, what???

Riida looks exceptionally pretty in church.

OMG, Spooky Girl, that kid has the TEDDY BEAR OF DOOM!!! It makes your brain explode.

Oh, little girl, don't rat Riida out!! He's being all adorable and patting your head!





3. NINO + RYO = HOT-BROTHERS-SWINDLING-FOR-REVENGE DRAMA IS CONFIRMED!!! THIS MAKES ME SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY!!!


4. I am possibly the only person in the whole world who hasn't posted their thoughts on the finale of Doctor Who. This is mostly because I'm still not sure what my thoughts are.


The Donna thing obviously bugged me, I mean what was the point of the whole season then?? Why have this whole character arc and then undo it?? I suppose from the Doctor's perspective I get it, and at the end he's alone again and all that, but still. Annoying.

The Rose thing also annoyed me a bit too. I mean, it did and it didn't. It did in the way where the end of Doomsday broke my heart, but it was perfect in its heartbreakingness. I would've been happy for the Doctor and Rose to have this perfect, tragic love that sort of remained as something untouched, if that makes sense. But at the same time I'm happy that Rose got a happy ending. And I guess that was really the only way to bring her back for the finale without keeping her around or killing her off.

I'm also happy that Martha and Mickey are going to Torchwood. That will be awesome.

I thought the whole thing Davros said about how the Doctor's creations turned into killers or whatever was interesting, though a bit of a plot device. I mean, mostly his companions react out of sympathy to people and that's what the Doctor sees in them, their humanity. And I think that's why he loved Rose so much, because she could empathise with anyone, even the daleks. I guess they were tying it back into the Time War and all that, I don't know, maybe it will lead into something to do with the special episodes next year. Anyway, that bugged me a little too.

Yeah, that's all I really have to say about that. XP





5. Also, Code Blue is awesome. It's like if you took Scrubs and smished it up with Grey's Anatomy and then gave it silly-curly-hair-that-kind-of-grows-on-you-after-a-while-because-Yamapi-is-just-that-hot and threw in a helicopter. Only nobody in it is as annoying as Meredith Grey.


6. While typing this post, I just watched episode 3 of Maou with starfishdance.

7. I have hot pink fingernail polish. This has nothing to do with TV, but it looks really awesome. It's the same shade of pink as Matsujun's sequined pants.

Ahaha, of course TV = the really important things! WHAT ELSE COULD BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN OHNO LAWYERING FOR REVENGE AND TOMA BEING A CRAPPY DETECTIVE WHO CAN'T DETECT STUFF AND YAMAPI THE HOT DOCTOR? Not much competition there!

I love the symbolism all throughout this show. And yes, girls like that bug me too! The really pale, innocent, frail kind who always wears white and everyone feels the need to PROTECT! GIRLS LIKE THAT ARE SO ANNOYING! I think big nose!guy stalks Arashi members. He probably learned how from watching this show! Now all he has to do is act in a drama with Aiba to make his LIFE'S MISSION COMPLETE!

Ohno is so awesome here, he is so clever! And of COURSE Toma should do the broadcast thing and also handcuff himself to Ohno! All the cool detectives are doing it!!

There needs to be more Nino, too! LOL, I love how they always cameo in each other's dramas and do totally heterosexual things like shoving each other against walls. THEY ARE SO IN LOVE! The Toma knife scene was awesomely creepy, I think that was possibly the best part of episode 1. And omg, Ohno is really EVERYWHERE, isn't he! I REALLY DON'T GET WHY TOMA ISN'T SUSPICIOUS. Like HEY why is this dude following me EVERYWHERE and acting as the lawyer for ALL THE PEOPLE who accidentally killed my friends! GEEZ TOMA, IS IT REALLY THAT DIFFICULT? I GUESS YOU CAN'T FIGHT GENETICS!

I am so happy about the Nino/Ryo swindling for revenge drama! ALTHOUGH SERIOUSLY, ISN'T THAT PLOTLINE KIND OF OVERUSED?? Not that I'm complaining though, it would be really hot! I hope they wear awesome clothes, too! WHAT IS THIS DRAMA, KUROSAGI - THE SEQUEL??? OMG WILL THERE BE A YAMAPI CAMEO??

EXACTLY!!! THEY ARE DEFINITELY THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS!!! MY PRIORITIES ARE TOTALLY SORTED OUT!! It's like when you meet a hot guy in RL and you think "well, he's okay but he's no Jin" or something. XP

Yes, the symbolism in this show is awesome. So much thought has gone into everything, it's like nothing is there just for the sake of it. It makes me very happy!!! There definitely needs to be more Nino!! Like, I'm sure his cameo was only in there for the sake of it, but it was left very open-ended. And so far he's been the only one who has suspected Ohno, so he should totally come back at some point when Toma is stuck for clues and be like I MET THIS REALLY HOT GUY WHO I THINK IS A KILLER, I WILL LURE INFORMATION OUT OF HIM BY SEDUCING HIM!! That would be awesome.

I think Toma isn't suspicious because he's too busy running and yelling, he doesn't have time for being suspicious!!

I know!! It's going to be awesome! Even though YES, WTF HOW MANY SWINDLERS FOR REVENGE DO WE NEED? It would be awesome if there was a Yamapi cameo though, like he was their swindling mentor or something!!! Though, as it's based on a novel, that probably won't happen. Still, all the Nino/Ryo promo stuff is going to be awesome, as they're both hilarious. YAY!

Ohno is super-smart, I bet he did something like borrowed money off Kuma in glasses!guy's name so that Kuma harassed him or something. Probably something better though, because he's way cleverer than I am!! XP

Yeah, I like how they parallel the events from the past to the ones happening now, and the red room, and just everything. ALSO THE OHNO SHOWER SCENE, BECAUSE CLEARLY THAT HAS ITS OWN SYMBOLIC MEANING, TOO!! And yeah, I think guys like girls like that because they're the sort who have NO OPINIONS AT ALL and will agree with everything the guy says! And then all they do is stay at home and cook and clean and stuff! Lol I have issues with girls like that. Yes, the methods employed in the show are obviously things big nose!guy has used to great effect in real life! He is such an invaluable cast member!

I know right! But then the show would only be like, 2 episodes long so maybe that's why they used Toma instead, to extend it to last all season!

Yes, BRING BACK NINO!!! I'm really intrigued as to why he suspected Ohno in the first place!! AND LOL YES, THAT WOULD BE THE BEST ENDING OF THE SHOW EVER! Only that Nino would fall in love with Ohno FOR REAL and instead he'd conspire with Ohno to kill Toma! And that is very true, Toma is spending all his time threatening people and crying at trees and stuff, when did they actually show him THINKING in this show? THAT'S RIGHT, NEVER!

I know, it is totally unrealistic! It's not like Japan is swarming with swindlers for revenge or anything like that! But yeah, Yamapi Nino and Ryo could totally form a club or something! Like, "the WE SWINDLE FOR REVENGE (and look really hot in the process) CLUB"!!! IT WOULD BE THE BEST EVER! But yeah, I am already totally excited for this drama, it is going to be so awesome! And the cast is so hot!

Oh yeah, that's possible! But then Kuma might recognise him, since they met at the bar in episode 2! Maybe he convinced glasses!guy that the girl is like, some relative of his or something! OR HIS LONG LOST DAUGHTER! Only that for that to happen glasses!guy would've had to have gotten laid some time in the past WHICH SEEMS KIND OF IMPOSSIBLE.

Maybe Japan IS swarming with swindlers for revenge and that's why there has to be 84 dramas about it. That would be the hottest club ever!! People would be so easily swindled because they'd just be like "...GUH! THAT IS TOO MUCH HOTNESS FOR MY BRAIN TO HANDLE! PLZ TAKE ALL MY MONEY!"

I think that he must have manipulated glasses guy somehow without glasses guy ever seeing him, like he did in episode 1 with the letters to that guy and sending the cleaning woman the gun and Kuma the teddy bear, because he definitely wouldn't give himself away like that, no?

WELL, SOMETHING LIKE THAT! AND ALSO THAT HE'S REALLY HOT! I love how these dramas include scenes like this to make the fans happy, just like Yamapi taking off his shirt! And Shuji and Akira gaying around at the end of Nobuta, and things like that. IT DELIGHTS ME, REALLY! And yeah, true, but wouldn't you get bored of her having like NO PERSONALITY? If I was a guy I'd want someone who'd argue with me. Maybe it's just me, though!

HAHAHA TOTALLY, IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME! And omg, Maou episode 4! MY HEART JUST BREAKS FOR OHNO! I can't really connect with Toma in this show, I don't particularly sympathise with him or anything. Maybe I'm just biased, but STILL. AND LOL YES, IT TOOK HIM FOUR EPISODES TO REALISE THE MURDERER REALLY WANTED REVENGE!! WOW, TOMA, WELL DONE!

I know right, I don't like how he never really seems to feel sorry for what he did, although my heart went out to him a little in this latest episode BUT I STILL LIKE OHNO BETTER! OBVIOUSLY!

OH NO! That's okay, I have a few tips for finding a hot swindler for revenge:

1. Fall onto a train track and let him save you!
pro: you can have a totally romantic staring-into-each-other's-eyes moment in the FACE OF DANGER
con: the train may kill you

2. wait outside a prison for him to be released! And when he tricks you into waiting somewhere by saying he'll be right back, wait there for him all the way till morning!
pro: your stupidity willingness to trust others may remind him of his poor dead mother and he will totally help you!
con: it's kind of boring to wait alone. Especially if it rains.

3. Whatever Nino and Ryo do, you will know once you watch the drama!!

Yeah, it's like he's not sorry he killed Hideo, he's just sorry that he's suffering for it now. I haven't posted my thoughts on Doctor Who finale either! Mostly because I still want to punch people in the face. >:(

I hate what they did to Donna, hate hate hate hate. She was an awesome character and I loved watching her growth from a shallow bint to a compassionate woman who trusts in herself. AND THEN THEY TOOK IT AWAY!! Like you said, what was the point of the whole season? It was all about Donna's growth and the Doctor finding a companion who's in it for the adventure (and healthy arguments), not for sappy love for the Doctor. I'm going to believe that Donna gets her memories back with the help of Torchwood or someone else. Then she'll build her own TARDIS and have amazing Doctor Donna adventures in space and time.

Argh, the Rose thing! I liked her in season one but with Ten, she was obviously RTD's self-insert Mary-Sue. Doomsday was a perfect ending, bittersweet and giving her an opportunity to get over the Doctor. And what do they do? Tell that all the time she could've lived her own life she was actually looking for a way to find the Doctor. *headdesk* Now she got her own Doctor who's not the Doctor she fell in love with. [/ranting]

But Martha and Mickey in Torchwood will indeed be awesome!

And yeah, I can't see Rose's Doctor as being the real Doctor either, it just seemed like a convenient sort of plot device to me.
