hello pottermania, i have missed you
Jul. 11th, 2007 12:53 pmTo tell the truth I haven't been able to get that excited about the new movie or the new book and all that, but like a good fangirl I've been doing my rereads and I have to admit around about the "Professor R.J. Lupin was stamped across one corner in peeling letters" point of PoA, I felt a teeny twinge of excitement. Sorry
sandy_phoenix, I know he's your boy but I'm in a very Remus place right now :P
Anyhoo, the time of Potter-apathy is well past, as of about three hours ago when I went to see Order of the Phoenix.
1. Ron. Of course. I especially loved it when he stuck up for Harry to the whole Gryffindor common room. And then Harry yelled at him and he was so understanding. *huggles teh old OTP* And being all smart at tricking the Slytherins and being all protective of Hermione and just generally awesomeing like the awesome that he is. Oh Ronald, you don't have the emotional range of a teaspoon at all, you have the AWESOME of a teaspoon that is full of chocolate peanut fudge icecream. With cookie pieces. And butterscotch chips. I love you. Plz to be not dying in book 7 because I would cry forever and ever.
2. Luna. She could so easily have been overacted or lame but Evanna Lynch totally pulled it off. Sort of not too ditzy, just going along her own way and all that. I love her accent and she was just so cute. And a little heartbreaking too. I mean, that scene at the end was always a bit heartbreaking but she played it so well, I thought. And I quite liked the scene with the Thestrals and all that and how she made Harry be less of a jerk to Ron and Hermione. Movie, plz to be not making me ship Harry with Luna because that would just be weird.
3. NOT QUITE SO MUCH CAPSLOCK BUT JUST ENOUGH. Because it would've gotten really annoying. I sort of liked how they really showed that Harry was worried about becoming evil more than anything, I didn't really get that so much from the book with everything else going on and it made a lot of sense for Harry to be thinking like that. I was a bit disappointed Harry didn't get to angst so much over Christmas and then get yelled at by Ginny, but I guess you can't have everything. It was pretty hot when Harry wanted to punch out Malfoy and Ron had to hold him back. Just saying. Harry's shoulders have filled out nicely.
4. EVIL FTW! I'm not a huge Helena Bonham-Carter fan (except in Fight Club where she was awesome), but she really made a perfect Bellatrix. I'm afraid I may have laughed in some rather inappropriate places when she was mocking on Neville. I mean, I feel for Neville and he breaks my heart and all that, but evil is really kind of funny. How's Mum and Dad, LOLZ. Also, Lucius Malfoy, making evil pretty. Oh dear Lucy, I would give you my prophecy any day. And Voldie, you are SO FREAKING CREEPY!!! I love your evil, creepy ways! Though I do kind of want to go up to you and say GOT YOUR NOSE, and pretend to have your nose in my hand like drunken old uncles do. And all the whoosh-whoosh Death Eater business was pretty much awesome and all that. The Dept of Mysteries stuff was creepy as all get-out. Two thumbs up.
5. This is a tiny little thing, but when Harry first came into Grimmauld Place and the door was open just a crack and Sirius and Remus were sitting together all cozy and IN LOVE! I admit to squeeing a little squee of puppy-shipping happiness. *sigh*
6. Twins! Awesome, awesome twins! Of course I love the Wizard Wheezes and the fireworks and sticking it to Dolores and all that but the thing I really loved most of all was when that little kid had the lines on his hand and they were cheering him up. I thought that was so sweet. Most of the time Fred & George are blustering about and are actually pretty thoughtless, but that scene really got me because it showed that they really are sweet boys and not just hooligans. *squishes twins* I also loved it when they apparated down because Harry was yelling and kind of put him in his place.
7. X-Men!Order. When they appeared at the DoM with all the pretty lights and their fancy magicks, I don't know why but it all seemed very X-Men to me. And Hugh Jackman would make a really hot Remus. Just saying. Maybe it was because Tonks had kind of Rogue-ish hair. *shrugs* Awesome though. I love all the whooshy-whoosh.
8. The DA. Especially Michael Corner's 70s hair. And Neville disarming somebody. And Ginny being totally arse-kicking. And the Patronuses (Patroni?). And Harry's speech in the Hog's Head about how it's down to luck and all that. And Ron and Hermione duelling and then Ron saying he let her win because he's awesome. And so on. Everything except Cho, really.
9. Snape. HELLO MR AWESOME, PLZ TO BE HOLDING HARRY'S HAND WHILE YOU WALK DOWN THE STAIRCASE BECAUSE YOU LOVE HIM REALLY. No, really. There are millions of Snarry-vampire-pr0n fics to prove it.
10. Possessed!Harry. Oh, Dumbles, just chuck some holy water on him. But seriously, that was awesome. Harry's eyes going all weird and the flashes in his head and Dumbledore being all OMGZWTFBBQ!!11! And Harry all being like "I shall pwn you with my Wheezy" and such. Awesome.
11. Other stuff that normally bugs me didn't this time. Like Emma Watson, she was so much less offensive than usual. And there weren't so many "aren't our special effects awesome, come watch them for ten minutes while we pan around the castle' scenes. And Grawp was kind of cute instead of just being annoying, and I'm totally shipping Grawp/Hermione now because she was so much giving him the eye.
12. An honorable mention has to go to Crabbe and Goyle. Cheeky boys. <3
1. Not enough Remus. Seriously, what did he have, like two lines? I mean, I understand they needed to build up the bond between Harry and Sirius (which was pretty awesome too and I'd put that on the previous list if I could be bothered), but they could've had him in the scene where the Order picked Harry up from Privet Drive, at least. I mean, last time he saw Moody he was sort of evil and David Tennant and he didn't know the others from a bar of soap, so I think Remus should've been there tobe awesome give Harry some reason to trust them. And also, because he's Remus and deserves some respect!!! I did love his reaction when Sirius went through the veil though. Hang on, was there actually a veil or just smoky sort of light? Anyway.
2. Cho. I mean, I never liked Cho but I was prepared to give her a fair go. (Hey, that rhymed!) The thing is, I didn't like what they did with her storyline, taking out Marietta and having Cho betray them and then letting her off the hook with the Veritaserum. I mean, I see why they did it, but then it gives Harry no reason not to trust her now, so why don't they just go live happily ever after and have many weepy babies together? Also, Ginny is so much more awesome. Ginny could so much kick Cho Chang's butt. Cho Chang is useless.
3. Not enough Ginny, either. I mean, I like how they're dealing with the whole build up to the Harry/Ginny, with the sad looks and whatnot, and you can sort of see how Ginny is awesome and perfect for Harry but still not really on his radar. And I know all those people were all like WTF, GINNY when the book came out, but I never had a problem with it, I liked it. Still, more Ginny would be awesome, because Ginny is awesome.
4. Snape's Worst Memory. I really wanted to see more dumb!James and some dumb!Moony-and-Padfoot too. And young!Lily. The little flash of James really wasn't enough. Young!Sev was hot though. Young!Sev should have his own TV show. It could be called "The Life and Times of a Hot Young Slytherin at Hogwarts". Okay, now I want to write that fic.
I forgot to mention that McGoogles is also awesome. And the Black family tree was awesome. And did I mention the awesomeness of Ron? Because really, Ron = awesome.
I think that's all I have to say. I want to go watch it again now.
YAY FOR HP MONTH!!! I am so glad I'm all enthused and whatnot!!

Date: 2007-07-12 10:49 am (UTC)You know what needed to happen, they needed to extend the movie by a hundred hours so they could fit in everything. I particularly wanted more Sirius Hearts Remus IN HIS PANTS which we got none of.
Also, all your Cho hate is mirrored by me. I see why they did it but I also don't see why.
Your comment beat my comment. I wish I wasnt so carazzzzy.

Date: 2007-07-15 03:49 am (UTC)Don't really agree with the Ginnylove - I've always seen her as a bit of a brat (not to mention a slut), and, unlike your feelings of weirdness towards them, have shipped Harry/Luna since the book. Like Harry said in the film, they're different.
Young!Sev was hot though. Young!Sev should have his own TV show. It could be called "The Life and Times of a Hot Young Slytherin at Hogwarts". Okay, now I want to write that fic.
Alec Hopkins was the best choice ever- he SO had Alan qualities. The toilet paper was devestating! Too short, though, but good enough for me anyway!! Please write fic.
Now.
PS: My review is also up - it will explain the Ginnyhate, lol.
