So, it turns out that I have tonsilitis AS WELL AS GLANDULAR FEVER. How is that even possible? Anyhoo, so I'm going to stay with my mum for a few days so that she can cook for me and I can snuggle with my dog. I shall not have internet.

None of this is really important however. What is important is that I'm in love with a whole new fandom. Yes, during my extended and ridiculous illness I have discovered HORNBLOWER!! And while Ioan Gruffudd is possibly the most beautiful man ever and he has exceptionally fine long-fingered hands, I have to say that it is Archie I love. And the Horatio/Archie.

It pwns me. The epic drama pwns me. The gay sailors pwn me. The nautical terminology pwns me. Heck, even the dorky hats pwn me.

I like to be pwnd.

I am going to dload a whole heap of Hornblower slash so that it will make me recover in the way that no drugs can. (Though, now I really do have the Very Good Drugs.)

So, it would be awesomely awesome if while I'm away, people could spam me, so that when I get home I can reply to all the messages with my pretty new Hornblower icons!!! I have about 80 and they need to be used.

Hornblower pwns, seriously. I've got the entire series on DVD and am filled with woe that they're not planning to film any more of them even though Ioan has said he would love to return to the character given the chance.

The world needs more Horatio/Archie slash! It's probably my favorite outside HP pairing besides Sawyer/Sayid and Charlie/Claire!

I don't have any Hornblower icons, but I do have several of Ioan, and I now have an excuse to use one! :D

Honestly, the Hornblower kind of makes the tonsils feel not so bad! I am fully smitten and have spent the last four days lying in bed eating pudding and reading Horatio/Archie fic. I've also read some Horatio/Archie/Bush fic, and some Archie/Edrington fic, but honestly it just seems wrong.

I've not read any Sawyer/Sayid, I'm more of a Sawyer/Jack girl, but Sawyer being hot and Sayid being hot, I can see how that would work. Any recs??

Hornblower is THE BEST THING EVER!! It's this British series about the British Navy in the Napoleonic wars, and it's the slashiest thing I've ever seen!! Gay sailors are totally the new black. *uses icon as example*

Oh man, I spent like ALL of last summer reading nothing but King Arthur, HP, and HH fanfiction.

http://www.hhfic.com/ <---- BEST HH fanfic archive I've come across. Poke around, most of the stuff is pretty good. I read most of the stuff there, so I don't exactly remember which were good/bad, but there are a few that sticks out the most.

First is RED SKY AT MORNING by Sarah B. and Carolyn. Oh man, this fic was intense and left me drained (but in a good way). I cried (which I never do!) and brilliant characterization of Archie & Horatio, and introduces new characters that are multi dimensional as well. Here is the summary:

Following the disastrous mission at Muzillac, Horatio longs for peace and release from the guilt that plagues his soul. Instead he is drawn into a nightmare of ambition and intrigue when Archie is accused of murdering an officer from another ship, the H.M.S. Courageous. To win his freedom Horatio must thwart the Courageous' powerful captain, and discover the darkest secrets of Archie's past. But Archie's soul will not be freed easily, and Horatio discovers that the price of his freedom is very high indeed...

Anything by MEANJEAN is brilliant. The PASSAGES series are what sticks out most in my memory. Perfect blend of drama and humor to move the story along.

OMG, I love you!!!! Yay for fic!! And yay for Alternate Endings to Retribution!! Elementary, my dear Archie!!

I've found a few good fics. Most of the fic on
this page are good, especially First Blush, Kama Sutra, Time Well Spent and Ye Olde Drunken Boinke. Though, I have to admit a few of them are just too sad.

Also Tutelage by widget285 is a fantastic Justinian-era fic. I just love it when a fic captures Horatio's Extreme Awkwardness!!

I think I have a thing for terribly sad Archie fic, because I think The Falling Glass by destina and especially Rappeller by nifra_idril are maybe the two best fics I've read so far, but they leave me very miserable indeed!

I should be getting the new netflix discs in a day or so and will happily watch Hornblower so as to talk with you about it. :D Colin has already seen it! He said he watched it on A&E when I was off doing other stuff. *pouts* However, he said he liked it lots and would like to see it again so it is all okay.
