Yay, new friends!!

I always worry about the ettiquite with friending memes. Is that weird?? Like, if you reply to somebody, should you friend them straight off or wait for them to say "yeah, let's be friends"? Because I think it's more polite to wait, but then I worry that I'll forget who the person is and why I wanted to be friends with them or something.

I also find this sort of thing really interesting, in that, well, what makes you pick certain people from all the pages and pages of comments? It seems like such a judgemental thing, kind of, but you can't go and friend everyone who has the same interests as you, or you'd be reading to like skip 5000 every day when you checked your flist. I kind of pick out people based on funniness, I guess. And sometimes I friend people based on their icons or gifs or whatever. And if I'm not sure based on their comment, I'll sometimes go look at their journal.

LOL, this is possibly not interesting to anybody else, but I always worry that maybe there's some really awesome people out there and I'm passing them over just because they're not good at pimping themselves or whatever. It's very stressful!!! XP

Of course, I should probably concentrate on being a better LJ friend to all you awesome people before I go making a bunch of new friends anyway.

In other news, I have turkish delight and that is awesome!!

he's in Trinity doing his foundational year. unimelb next year, i guess?

i'm actually in RMIT. XD but i'm not there physically... we just do the degree in singapore.

Ah, I'm at La Trobe, because it's close to my house. XP Your brother must be smart if he's going to Trinity and then Melb!! You can be in Singapore and do a degree through RMIT?? That's awesome! My sister went to RMIT. XD

ahhh i see. my brother (okay, we aren't related by blood or marriage, we're actually part of a very close group of friends that i've known for a long long time and we've established ourselves as close as family XD) didn't do very well for his 'A' levels and his parents decided to send him to trinity. but he's really smart - i think he didn't do very well because of the route he chose. he shouldn't have done 'A's i guess. in any case he's there mainly because his parents can afford it, sounds bad, i know :P but he's a very responsible guy we're actually all very sure he'll do well there. he just lacked the opportunity here. :\

This is only the second friending meme I've done - it's a lot like blind dating, isn't it? It did turn out that first time round I friended a couple of people with whom I don't have much in common after all... I mean, even less than I thought, I was still *really* knew to all this stuff then. Which isn't a problem for me, it's still fun to read their stuff, I just never know what to *say*, you know? And then I feel guilty.

I'm a bit too shy to go up and friend people. Unless I'm in the mood for more friends which in the case of when I first entered Arashi fandom! I need some friends badly! Very sad to flail alone.

I've friended people through these memes but some of them...I've already cut! Since we really didn't get to know each other in the end.

Seriously?? lol, I've never done that before. These days I friend people on the basis of what they write in their journal and also how regularly they use their journal. I also like posts about daily life mixed with fangirlism. A range of interests is very good!

I'm always very thorough when picking new friends. I compare interests, check their profile, check what kind of entries they write if there are any unlocked ones available. It's just that it so much easier to not friend a person than to defriend them later. However I really don't know what to do if I should be friended by someone I don't like. And I don't know about the etiquette either, I've tried both ways, but just friending them seems too forward. However with the most recent friendings we have just kept commenting before either of us actually dares to do the frinding part! XD

Oh, at least I could relax a little, knowing I'm not the only one who doesn't really know what's the 'proper' procedure in a friending-meme. I found it kinda awkward to wait for written friending expression, but always not sure if I could just friend them away. In case they're not really interested in trying to be friend with me.

And about being judgmental, though I agree to your point, I feel like there's a need to be a bit judgmental in order to make everything go smoother in the future. Though one or two comments, or a certain gifs and icon could not really be a measure of compatibility xp

Definitely. I mean, there are some people and you just think straight off "this person is clearly awesome", but there are other people who could go either way, and I never know!! XP
