It's complete in Japan, but only scanlated up to vol 10. shinkumi had some untranslated chapters up though. Now that I checked, I noticed there are a few chapters up I haven't read yet. Yey!
The manga is so different from jdrama! Do you plan to watch Gokusen 2? I stopped after a few episodes. Yankumi has totally different class there. It has Kamenashi Kazuya.
I had my Gokusen period about 1,5 years ago, but the fandom was too small to last for long. :(
