it is so freaking hot
Dec. 22nd, 2006 10:33 amnote how ironical my icon is, on account of it's so freaking hot right now.
i am done with christmas. well, nearly anyway. i just got back from the market and it was crazy insane. little old ladies fighting to the death over turkeys and shootouts over the last parking spot and folk getting shanked in the deli. i saw a nasty incident in the fruit & veg involving a shopping cart and a greek woman. not pretty at all.
there was free wine tasting though, and that makes everthing happy, even at 9.30am. or maybe especially at 9.30am. it made the whole thing much more amusing at any rate. i got a nice dry white for christmas day and a yummy muscat because i'm all out of sleeping pills.
i have spent a bizillion dollars on food and now i am in the poor house. but it's a poor house with loads of yummy treats, so that's okay.
i feel as though i should say something about the title for book 7, but meh. at least it's not 'harry potter and the happy horcrux hunt'.

Date: 2006-12-24 02:11 am (UTC)I am very well, apart from having REO Speedwagon stuck in my head for the past three days. I am feeling very Christmassy and good. How is Lucy??

Date: 2006-12-24 11:24 am (UTC)I'm not doing much for Christmas. One of my sisters is in Bali and my mum is interstate, so it's just my other sister and my nephew and me. Though we have enough food to feed a small country and so many presents it's ridiculous, and really we don't like anyone else much in our family, so it's kind of perfect! We're going to watch Rocky and eat cake, it will be awesome!!!
Yays for Christmas!

Date: 2006-12-24 11:26 am (UTC)That sounds like such a great Christmas! We're kind of family-loathing too - my mum's brother invited us over today for drinks and supper but my mum was all 'their house smells and they have a dog - we're not going' (she is dog-afraid - I have no idea why, their dog is the cutest thing ever and won a contest for being a good dog, so it will hardly bite her or whatever).
How are your wacky housemates?

Date: 2006-12-24 11:33 am (UTC)It would be awesome if you were flying a plane. You could come visit me for Christmas and it would be the best Christmas ever!!!! If you were driving a boat it would take too long, but you might make it here for my birthday.
My wacky housemates are okay. Richie the Stoner has vanished off the face of the earth, so he's an awesome housemate at the moment. Freaky Noel keeps giving us tinned foods to make up for his slackness around the house, which is mystifying yet amusing. I have a suspicion that the Landlords are going to sell the house in the New Year and put us all out on the street, which will be dandy because I will never be bothered moving otherwise.
Also, I am going to see M. Ward in 6 days! I am so excited!!! There are all these great bands playing here at the moment for the summer festivals and I'm too poor to go see any of them, but I am totally going to see M. Ward and his sensuous lips on Saturday night! Yays!

Date: 2006-12-24 06:30 pm (UTC)I would indeed come and see you, and stay for seven days so that I too could see M. Ward - he is fantastic! Is it part of the Post War tour? My favourite song of his is Seashell Tale - tell me if he plays it. Have you heard the Bright Eyes cover?
Is he the one with the porno in the bathroom? Being on the street is not much fun, but canned goods in lieu of housework sounds pretty good - "I'm lazy...have some spam". Srsly, what kind of foods?

Date: 2006-12-24 09:27 pm (UTC)Yes, I love the Bright Eyes cover of Seashell Tale! Have you heard M. Ward doing 'O'Brien' with Conor Oberst, I think that's maybe my favourite thing ever? If you haven't got it, let me know and I'll send it to you, I think I had to rip it from video so I don't know if it's even available on mp3, but it is seriously made of awesome.
Richie is the one with the pr0n, Noel is the one with no belly button. And it's not even great canned foods, it's like tinned tomatoes and baked beans and stuff. Still, free stuff is good, though I'd kind of prefer it if he'd occassionally flush the toilet, because that is just gross!!
It's Christmas here now! I want to wake everyone up so I can have presents!!!
