That's so mean, someone is dead

Yeah, don't you think it's awful to make fun of something like this?

Honestly? No.

I had no respect for the guy when he was alive. I thought he was a disgrace to the nation. I don't see why I should act all sad when I'm not.

Also - just because I've decided I'm really pissed off with you for judging me about this - I was not 'making fun' of it. I also never said I was happy that a person had died. I am just pleased he is no longer able to disgrace my nation, which is a totally different thing.

The guy has made me feel sick to the stomach for years, representing a false image of Australia to the rest of the world. Which I don't expect you to get, as you aren't Australian and obviously are a fan of the guy. I just don't think you should be so quick to attack me.

I also don't understand how anyone can actually be surprised that a man who is a 'Crocodile Hunter' was actually killed by one of the animals he was interfering with.

I think that is all.

*CLINGS TO*

I just hope our next "national icon" isn't such a half-wit.

They will be. Remember Paul Hogan. And Russell Crowe.

As long as they don't let Chopper loose, I think I can cope.

He's entertaining for us, yes. But imagine the insane ideas that will form in millions of American's minds about Australia if he hits up Hollywood.

I don't think their tv networks allow so much "fuck"age, anyway.

*shrugs* I actually picture most of America to be populated with Chopper-like figures anyway.

ROFL, Chopper.

AHAHAHHAHAHA a country full of Choppers XD I definitely like him more than Chuck Norris.

Do you watch Ronnie Johns?

No, what is Ronnie Johns?

Some random TV show. They have Chopper doing bingo and the weather and stuff XD

People keep telling me I'm being harsh about Irwin and that I have no tact, wtf.

Oh, I've seen the ad for that! Chopper impersonators, that's pretty awesome!

People are saying the same to me. At least on the internets they are, in RL everyone else thinks the same as us. People are strange.

Is your icons Johnny Depp in 21 Jump Street? Because that is pretty darn awesome.

It is indeed (:

I know what you mean. At work there were already stingray jokes going around and such. Sometimes, I don't understand why things are so much more dramatic on le internet.

I think people on the internet just like the drama. And they're probably bored. And they like disagreeing with people. It's easier to attack someone when you can just leave them a message I guess.

But still, I <3 the internet with a <3 that will never die!!!

Yeah but the guy hunts crocodiles for a living. It's a high risk occupation.

You're glad Steve Irwin is dead? Or is the post about something else?

I'm not glad a man's dead, so much, but I'm glad he won't be on the telly making my country look stupid all the time.

From: [identity profile] coffee-n-cocoa.livejournal.com
Heh...I never thought he made Australians look stupid. He just struck me as being maybe a little too passionate about his work.

It could have been worse. Dubya makes Americans look like the global version of Crabbe and Goyle. :((

*hugs* Feel better!

Dubya=George W. Bush, our pitiful excuse for a president. :(

Ah, yes. That makes sense. You poor peoples!! *huggles* Though, our PM kind of just follows him around like a forgotten puppy, so that's possibly worse. However do these people get elected?

That icon slays me!

*is all :(*

Didn't appreciate the image he broadcast to the world, but did appreciate that he was a decent bloke with a family trying to do the right thing by the environment.

Is it just me or do other countries love Steve more than us? Becuase honestly, I don't think anyone is Aus took him seriously and basically thought he was a bit of a wanker.

But the rest of the world actually thought he was...dare I use these words...'fair-dinkum'. *shudder* Way to show our country as being a bunch of khaki wearing loud mouth animal loving ocker bogans.

I mean, sure he is dead and anyone dying is reason to mourn and to remember the life lost, but it doesn't mean we automatically have to respect what he did for himself or this country.

There are plenty of people who die every day who are good family men and who do things for their country. But they manage to do it WITHOUT totally embarressing their country (excuding Americans...teehee!).

I'm pretty sure I'm trying to make a point but you know, meh, I forget things easily.

I suppose this essay is just to say LIGHTEN UP and go ahead be sad, but I'm sure most Australians will agree (and any who don't, don't abuse me. I like to make sweeping generalisations ALRIGHT!) that he didn't do much for us...really. In the long run.

(and PS. Can the news PLEASE stop showing a thousand stories on him. WHAT THE HELL? If John Howard died no one would care)

I agree completely with every single thing you said.

Hmm. The difference of reactions in my flist about this is interesting. I only know he dealt with high-risk animals and stuff, but not that he was helping out the environment too, which is probably why I was more annoyed by him than not. :| Am sad he's dead though, which is I think some people don't really quite get from your post. :\ *pets*

I'd rather he was out there being a bit embarrassing than dead. And that's coming from an Australian.
