Happy Sparkles!!!
Mar. 30th, 2006 03:13 pmOkay, so for Lent I gave up Conor Oberst. There are various reason for this which are too complicated and wacky to explain, but the point is that this has forced me to actually listen to other stuff on my playlist. Anyway, it may be apparent that I've been having trouble with my brain lately. Sometimes it seems like it's too full of stuff and then other times it seems like there is no stuff at all, and it is always a big loud whirligig of confusion. So I have devised the perfect playlist to make my brains feel better.
I call it the HAPPY SPARKLE MIX!!!
So I thought I should share the Happy Sparkles with everyone in case you all need to make your brains feel better too. I even made pretty artwork!!

1. Sufjan Stevens - Chicago
I think everybody in the universe loves this song. I also think everybody in the world loves to mock Sufjan Stevens for crying in his van.
2. Liars - Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack
Can't stop listening to this song. One day when I fall in love, I think this song will be playing.
3. The Elected - Desiree
I like to sing to this song when I am driving. It is just so very easy to identify with this song.
4. Grandaddy - He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot
Maybe this is my favourite song ever. It's so sad and epic.
5. Iron & Wine - Sodom, South Georgia
Sam Beam's voice just makes me happy, you know? I think you could be having your legs ripped off by secret agents and bamboo stuck under your fingernails, and if Iron & Wine were playing, you'd still feel okay about things.
6. Arcade Fire - Neighbourhood 4 (7 Kettles)
This whole album is so pretty, isn't it. I think it is maybe going to be the definitive album of the mid-00's. Mid 00's - does anybody even say that?
7. Simon & Garfunkel - Only Living Boy in New York
I am so on that Zach Braff bandwagon. Garden State is the best movie I've seen in years.
8. Coco Rosie - By Your Side
This is what my novel would sound like if it was a song. Hopefully. At least, it does in my head.
9. Lou Reed - Perfect Day
I've been listening to this album a lot lately. I prefer Lou Reed solo to the Velvet Underground. Is that wrong and fully destroying any music credibility I might ever aspire to??
10. Sufjan Stevens - The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is Out to Get Us!
WTF, Sufjan Stevens, WTF is with the extraordinarily long song titles? He amuses me, he really does.
11. Iron & Wine - Passing Afternoon
Maybe I will just marry Sam Beam with his big bushy beard and cuddle him like a hot water bottle.
12. The Album Leaf - On Your Way
The first time I heard this album, it bugged me a little bit, but after I listened to it a couple of times I decided I loved it. It's very soothing.
They are also very good songs to nap to.
Enjoy!!!
(Only 15 more sleeps until I can listen to Bright Eyes again. 40 days is a long time to be without the Conor!)
