antpowerI've kind of been having a birthweek instead of a birthday. Had drinks on Friday night, wherein most of my friends bailed on me with lame excuses like food poisoning and mixing up the days, but it was fun anyway.
For the rest of the weekend, I recovered and watched "You're Beautiful", which was awesome and hilarious. And now I have a mini-crush on Jang Geun Seok. He's going to be playing Matsujun in the Korean version of Kimi wa Petto, apparently??? I've used up all my internets for the month, but when I get it back I'm going to watch Hong Gil Dong. My dog has decided she loves Korean dramas, they are the thing that finally coaxed her inside!!!
Spent my actual birthday taking my dog to the vet (she has a sore eye like me, it has done much for our bonding process), and then to the eye hospital for myself (just for the "OK, you're not going to end up blind"), which was okay because my friend Drew went with me to keep me company and drive in case I couldn't see after they experimented on me. We had a nice lunch and then I had awesome donburi with my sister and watched the "First Kiss in Odaiba" episode of D no Arashi. My mother and other sister are coming tomorrow from interstate and we shall have birthday dinner and things like that. It shall be swell.

jadenmd wrote me birthday Ohmiya fic!!, which is like the ultimate of gifts that keep on giving, right! ♥ And mutekinonna gave me an awesome virtual pair of glitterati sunglasses (I kind of want them for real!!), and sandy_phoenix sent me an awesome e-card. Thus proving once again that online people are totes more awesome than RL people!! XP
I am so much meme fail, I'm more than a week behind on this!!!
30-Day Arashi Challenge
day 05 - Favorite AnS Moment
Well, obviously I am human and can't possibly pick just one moment. I mean, we're talking about the greatest show in the history of television (except for maybe D no Arashi), but I have managed to narrow it down to a Best Three.
Number 3 - Nino undresses Ohno, I don't remember the episode number
And I don't even remember why this happened now. But that doesn't matter.
Because there is Ohmiya.
Nino undressing Riida-style Ohmiya.
And at the end of the day, that's what Shukudai was about, really. Random Ohmiya.
And there is shoulders.
Riida's awesomely pretty shoulders. There should be a law passed preventing him from wearing sleeves.
Now let's see it in motion!!

Number 2 - Ooshima sumo-wrestles for the love of Jun, episode 28
She loves him, he loves the love, they're the perfect couple, really. I kind of want to write Ooshima/Jun forbidden love fic, it would be the best thing ever!!
And so, the battle begins!!!
This just about kills me every time I watch it, honestly!!!
Number 1 - Oshiete, Arashi, episode 48
Oshiete, Arashi was the most genius segment of any television show ever, I think. Even including Mannequin 5. It was the first Arashi variety segment I ever saw, and the first thing that gave me an idea about the member's personalities.
There's Aiba, who is adorable no matter what he does.
There's Riida, who manages to be hilarious and awesome with apparently zero effort on his part.
There's Nino, being a tiny cute ball of enigma wrapped in brattiness, wrapped in awesome.
And Jun, the charming, manga-esque prince who doesn't quite know how much cheese is way too much. Sometimes it's so hard to look directly into his sincerity!!
And then there's Sho.
Sakurai Sho.
S-H-O-Double.
Sho, who in this episode was put into remedial Oshiete, Arashi for crimes against girlish dreams and giving Ant an anuerysm from LOLZ. The scenario here is a guy in a superhero group (the red character) confessing to the girl (pink) that he likes her. Attempt #1 didn't go so well.
Attempt #2... well it had more thought put into it.
But it managed to piss even Ogu-san off. I miss him.
Attempt #3, well it's pretty much the most hilarious thing I've seen in my life.
I love the progressively brain-implodey reactions from the members in the background.
Every good love confession must contain curry!!

It's not letting me resize this for some reason.
day 09 - Favorite Arashi PV
I wanted to be different and not pick this, but anything else would be a lie.
This is the happiest thing in the universe. I mean, they're dancing on rainbows!! There's layers to the happiness this PV brings me. (Though, Jun's spazzy chibi SURPRISE face made Kimi no Tame ni Boku ga Iru a close second.)
day 10 - Whatever tickles your fancy
This doesn't need any words, right??
I should be up to day 13, but I'll catch up on the rest tomorrow, or else it's just taking all the fun out of it!!

AnS ep 48 is one of the first episodes I saw, and it's the perfect way to get hooked into Arashi. Which is, obviously, what happened to me. "But Red loves Pink" is the best confession ever. I worship Sho for saying that on National TV. XD <3

I'm up to episode 13 and I love it so far, they've just saved the slave girls from the boat and stuff. I quite fancy the guy who plays Hong Gil Dong as well, he's quite manly!! But I think that Jang Geun Seok is kind of owning my heart at the moment! Do you have other K-dramas you can rec for me when I'm finished this???

Hm, recs. Depends on whether you want OMG crazy stuff or just interesting kdramas. I have made two posts about historical kdramas I've seen, I'm not that fond of contemporary ones, the boy-girl and parent-children dynamics tend to rub me the wrong way. Anothe fun rebbel group one is Strongest Chil Woo. It's a bit more serious and has a happier ending. Goong is this contemporary story with a silly heroine where royalty in Korea still exists. Maybe you would like Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, a contemporary love story based on an old legend and written by the screenwriters behind Hong Gil Dong. I personally loved it at first, but after a while it started to annoy me. Iljimae is a Hong Gil Dong like character (robin Hoodish illegitimate son). There are several versions of his story, I saw The Return of Iljimae and it wasn't bad. Kdramas that I liked in general include Legend, Queen Seon Duk, Empress Chunchu. At the moment I'm really into Dong Yi. Oh and I heard there's a Korean version of Hanadan I haven't seen.
And now the kdramas part ate my comment. Oops?

Oshiete, Arashi was definitely the best segment. I think Ohno was the most sincere in sharing his examples(?). Man I miss ANS.
I always tell all my friends when I'm waiting for an Arashi DVD or CD that I'm waiting for a rainbow. This is what they bring to my life a big shiny rainbow.

Yes!! Ohno was total win in Oshiete, Arashi!! I can actually pinpoint the moment Jun stopped being my ichiban, and it was when Riida said, "YOU! Marry me!" XP
