WATCH TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN, if you haven't already seen it. Now that's a show worth CAPSLOCKING over.

Or Cowboy Bebop. That's a damn good one too.

Out of your selection I have only seen Inuyasha. It was my first anime and has a special place in my heart. But it has two problems: too many fillers and after 167 episodes it just stopped without conclusion. Manga is still running, but is showing signs of ending.

I thought I'll give you a list of anime I've liked. Or maybe I'm just overly complicating things for you. In that case just ignore me. I checked your profile and hope I'm not recommending something you have already seen.

Samurai Champloo - a ronin, a vagabond and an ex-waitress travel through Edo era Japan in search of a samurai who smells like sunflowers. Has cool characters, merciless fights and isn't too long.
Hikaru no Go - A normal boy meets hilarious and cute bishonen Heian era ghost who really really loves to play go.
Ghost Hunt - A group of people solve ghost mysteries. They have different paranormal powers and some cases are quite scary.
Saiunkoku Monogatari - Takes place in a country vary similar to feudal China. Shuurei is from a good family but poor. Her dream is to become a government official. In the beginning she accidentally agrees to marry the emperor. Later it's more about realising her dream.
Seirei no Moribito - Water spirit has laid egg in second prince and his father is forced to command his death. A female bodyguard escapes with him. A beautiful and human story.
Saiyuki - Vary loose adaptation of "Journey to the West". Too many too stupid fillers though. I definitely prefer the manga.
From the recent ones I like "Shion no Ou" murder mystery mixed with professional shougi has cute girls playing shougi and a boy crossdressing to join females' league. And "Spice and wolf" about wolfspirit traveling with a merchant, but this one has only 5 episodes out.

Wow that became long. I hope some of it helps.

Well, I picked Cowboy Bebop just because it's a classic that everyone seems to like... even though I've never watched it. Heh. I probably should have just picked I'll tell you in comments. :P

I would say you should watch Blood+, but I'm not totally sure that would be your thang. Romancey and suchlike.

OH OH OH! MONSTER! Watch Monster! Serious mindfuckery, it's absolutely amazing. Brilliant, if you asked me.

OR - Ergo Proxy! This one has everything, IMO. Be prepared for much philosophy and mythological references.

OOH OOH, or Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei if you're willing to be somewhat mentally molested. confusing, but awesome and pretty.

I AGREE WITH THIS PERSON! You must watch Gurren Lagann, for it will make you cry manly tears.

Well, I haven't seen any of those, although I know about them. However... maybe you could try D.Gray-man? I just finished the manga and I'm skimming through the anime intermittently--so long as you skip the fillers, I think you might like it. (Wikipedia should tell you which eps are the fillers.)

Also, I second Monster. Haven't seen it, but it has a really good mindfuckery reputation (a little like Death Note, from my impression, although not so intense).

It's so hard to pick! Cowboy Bebop is a classic, you're going to have to watch that one anyway. :P Prince of Tennis is sweet because it's basically just a bunch of hot, sweaty guys getting all emotional around each other. Loveless didn't really catch me... Inuyasha is fun, but it kind of loses momentum after a while.

Or... You could watch Paradise Kiss because it's pretty. (And who doesn't love pretty?)

Thank you!!!

My nephew said I should watch Ergo Proxy as well. I am getting such a huge list of things to watch!!!

LOL, Cowboy Bebop does seem to be winning! I started reading the Loveless manga the other day and liked it a lot, so maybe I'll just stick with that then. *nods*

Monster is.... hard to sum up without ruining something :P Here, I'll link you to the Monster entry on Anirec (http://www.anime-planet.com/anirec/664.html) :) The fundamental question I think is - is everyone in this world truly equal?

A lot of people who like Death Note will rec Monster and vice versa :)

Oh, I was actually going to add D.Gray-man to the list, but I forgot. What's it actually about???

Monster does sound good, but I think after Death Note I need a break from mind-fuckery. I'm still a little bit crushed after episode 25!!!

Everyone is saying Cowboy Bebop! Hot, sweaty guys being emotional around each other does sound appealing though. I imagine Prince of Tennis to be a bit like Ouran only with tennis, am I wrong??

What is Paradise Kiss about?

From: [identity profile] ant-power.livejournal.com
Oooh, it sounds awesome!!! I don't know how I'm going to choose, I want to watch everything at once!!

From: [identity profile] wyntermute.livejournal.com
PoT is a lot less funny than Ouran. (Although in trying to be more serious it turns out to be funny anyway!) I'd almost say it's like if Dragonball Z turned into a tennis anime. :O

Paradise Kiss is your typical girly anime but way more awesome -- all about fashion, but instead of Prince Charming for romance you've got a stuck-up, prickish designer. With a main character who starts out lame but grows up to be kinda sweet. (With a dash of bitch as well.) *shrugs* I liked it, but it's probably not for everyone!

D.Gray-man's set in a Victorian-era-ish world (at least the clothing looks sort of that way at first) where there's the Akuma, beings created when people try to bring the dead back to life--however, there's some strange entity called the Earl of Millenium who uses the people's attempts to create Akuma, and he wants to destroy humankind. (The reason why is not yet revealed, I think, but that's more due to how much of the manga there is right now, about 140 chapters.) The chief fighters against the Akuma are the Exorcists, who along with Finders, etc. (they are all members of the Black Order), travel around searching for pieces of "Innocence," something which all gathered together can stop the Earl, or something like that. Btw, Innocence comes in many forms--the Exorcists also use it as their weapons. That's the basic gist of the story--I really like it so far. The characters are pure awesomeness; also, it reminds me vaguely of Naruto, in that drive to save other (main character Allen Walker), etc. Also, another character named Kanda has the similar character disposition as Sasuke. And the others are awesome too, especially Lavi. :D Yeah, it's pretty awesome. :DDDD

Episode 25 sort of made me lose interest in DN afterward, so I know next to nothing about Near and Mello.

it's basically about a pessimistic teacher with a classroom full of messed up girls. lulz ensues.

Kanda is way more bitchy than Sasuke. and Allen is nothing like Naruto at all. D:

Date: 2008-02-08 01:32 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dayadhvam-triad.livejournal.com
Really? *thinks* I mean, Allen seems to be the kind of person who not only wants to fight for humans, but also for the Akuma (in the sense of, the Akuma contain the humans' souls, I need to save them from that). There's that thing with "my left arm for the Akuma, my right arm for the humans," and my impression is just that he has a really big heart, just like Naruto has a really big heart. Although he is much less... loud than Naruto. XP But yeah, in the sense that he really wants to save everyone. That's what I was thinking when I said he reminded me of Naruto. I dunno; I only read the entire manga like this weekend. >_> XP

LOL Kanda's just bitchy, hands down, definitely more than Sasuke. But he's very surly and biting and acts like a bastard, and in that sense he reminds me of Sasuke at his more bitter times.

It’s a mecha anime, but even if you’re not into those types of anime, it’s a damn good one. Doesn’t take itself too serious, pretty over-the-top with HOT BLOODED MANLY SPEECHES and MECHA THE SIZE OF A FREAKING GALAXY. It has a nice dose of more srs business shit too that will make you shed manly tears at times.

AND I CAN’T REALLY EXPLAIN THE PLOTASDFHjklgj;ld

Just watch it. YOU’LL LOVE IT, I PROMISE.

And it only has 27 episodes. \o/

Yeah, but still. D: just look at how they act in general. and Naruto doesn't want to save everybody, whaaaat?

Kanda is under constant male PMS, i swear.
