Today I woke up at 4.30am. WTF is with that?

Anyway, so after trying to go back to sleep and failing, I went and got coffee and cupcakes and finished my rewatch of the Wave arc.



Naruto is so short! It's adorable.

So, I was thinking about the bit where Haku is like 'it isn't mercy to take everything away from someone and leave them alive' in relation to Sasuke not killing Naruto in the VotE.

I mean, obviously Sasuke isn't *everything* to Naruto, he still has his Hokage dreams and all that, but really, in leaving Sasuke did become the most important thing in Naruto's life. By doing that, he really defined who Naruto would later become. And obviously Sasuke couldn't kill Naruto, as Naruto is the main character, but aside from that.

Anyway, after thinking about it, I think that Haku is wrong. In that context, anyway. Because by leaving Naruto alive, Sasuke really gave Naruto a purpose; by taking everything away, he gave him something concrete to strive for. If Naruto had been in Haku's position at that point, he would never have been all 'well, just kill me, because I clearly suck', he'd have been more like 'I MUST BECOME STRONGER AND MORE AWESOME THAN EVER'.

But I suppose, not everyone can be Naruto.

I am seeing way too many parallels between NaruSasu and ZabuHaku. Like the 'I shall throw myself into certain death to save my most precious person' thing, and the wholly pure person being totally devoted to the morally ambiguous one. And the total canonness of them both

HELLO CHIDORI! It's a good thing Haku jumped in the way, or Kakashi would totally have Chidori'd Pakkun and that would make me sad!

I love how when Inari is trying to get the villagers to fight and they won't, the womenfolk are all like OMG, EVEN THE STUPID HAT KID HAS MORE BALLS THAN YOU LOT!

I know Sasuke isn't really dead, but it's still SO SAD! I have such conflicting feelings toward Sakura in that scene where she's all 'shinobi can't show emotions and stuff', because it's really sad and all that, but at the same time, she really bugs me with her wailing. I think my problem with early/long-hair!Sakura is that she reminds me of this girl I went to high school with, who I really hated. Once she cuts her hair, I like her much better. Anyway, it's still sad, and Sasuke looks so pretty all dead and stuff. (Though, not as pretty as Haku.)

Naruto's impassioned speech to Zabuza gets me every time. It's just so Naruto, I love how he takes everything so personally and just can't understand at all how anyone could be so cold. I freaking love him. I want to move to Konoha and be his BFF, I would totally never run off on him to join Orochimaru. Well, unless Oro had cupcakes, because seriously, cupcakes are awesome. Maybe that's what sold Sasuke on the idea in the end.

Zabuza's tears! He's such a marshmallow, really.

Those samurai are so freaking lame. THEY GOT SCARED OFF BY INARI! That makes me laugh for a whole hour.

And I love how Sasuke wakes up and he's like 'Get off me, Sakura, where's Naruto?' Not even an 'ouch, these needles kind of prickle'. Sasuke is so awesome sometimes.

The freaking end bit with the snow and the Zabuza lying next to Haku just BURNS MY HEART. Oh, you crazy kids, if only you could've worked it out. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THIS IS FORESHADOWING FOR NARUTO AND SASUKE, NO MATTER WHAT I MAY HAVE SAID EARLIER! It is such a pretty scene. *sigh*

YAY, NARUTO'S WAY OF THE NINJA!

Great Naruto Bridge... that makes me sad too.




Wow, I really had a lot to say, huh.

Next, I shall rewatch the Chuunin exams, but I'll probably leave it until after I finish Death Note. There are just too many awesome things to watch and not enough time to watch them!!

Today, I finally got around to renewing my LJ and now I have 100 free icon spots! This makes me very happy!!

I AGREE WITH FAR TOO MANY THINGS YOU'VE WRITTEN HERE. My liking for Sakura increased dramatically once she cut her hair. Interesting. And your comment about Inari actually made me laugh out loud, which isn't really helping to reassure my co-workers of my sanity. Oh well.

LOL YES. Orochimaru totally tempted Sasuke away with cupcakes. Chocolate frosted ones. With sprinkles! Nobody can resist that, NOT EVEN SASUKE.

(and at this point my train of thought shifts to rather disturbing things involving chocolate sauce and whipped cream, so um. I shall shut up now)

Ah, the Wave Arc! I'm afraid my enjoyment of it was rather spoiled by the UBER!flashback scenes and the usual, but one of my favorite phrases of the entire series is in there: "You--don't die." Short and simple and to the point. Sasuke doesn't mince words. XP

Though the whole cross gender state doesnt really fit.
Heh, For the first two years my brother watched Naruto, he thought Haku was a woman.
Then when I got 'naruto: ultimate ninja two' I said: "DAMMIT LOOK, IT SAYS 'HE' IN THE INFO SECTION!"

Ah yeah, the Wave arc... I think I re-watched that one at least three times! And I love the stupid hat kid, only because he's the first time we see Naruto-bitchslap-no-jutsu :D I just love that.

The whole idea of "precious people" keeps getting more and more twisted since that arc, doesn't it? Kimimaro, Gaara... ugh. There's an awful lot of f***ed up orphans in that aren't there? HEH!

I see Haku (and Gaara) as proof that not all people act and think the same. Naruto could have been like them, but Naruto is Naruto and he never gives up. The whole series is about devotion to this special person not only Zabu/Haku and Naru/Sasu. And usually gets them killed. *Refuses to believe in foreshadowing.*

It's so funny you say that, because I was watching the VotE arc with my 5 year old brother, who turns to me and says, in all seriousness, "Emily. Is Naruto going to die?" To which I respond, "Of course not! The show's named after him; he can't die!" Which was completely logical to the 5 year old. ^^;

Once she cuts her hair, I like her much better.

See, I didn't start grudgingly liking Sakura until Part II. I mean, then she has purpose and doesn't just stand around. (Yesyes I know she has purpose directly after cutting her hair, but she doesn't become kickass until after she's been with Tsunade.)

Anyway, am reading flist at work, bad me! so in conclusion I totally love the Wave Arc too and Zabuza/Haku is AWESOME.

Bitchslap-no-jutsu, lol! I do like the bit after Naruto tells Inari to stop being a crybaby, when Kakashi goes to talk to him about Naruto. I like how Kakashi has such insight, you know?

Yeah, the 'precious people' thing is interesting, because it's a nice idea and all, but it can be all twisted, like you say. Like that bit where Gaara says about how just because your precious person is bad, doesn't mean they're not important to you, or however it goes.

You're totally right. I think Sasuke too, to some extent, because they are all kids who are alone in the world, but Naruto is the only one who can sort of rise above it of his own free will.

So, I'm with you, I totally don't believe in foreshadowing either, they're just contrasting people to Naruto to show us how awesome he is!!!

Sakura is definitely loads better after the time-skip, but at least after the hair-cutting thing she kind of acknowledged the was being useless. I mean, I always wanted to like her, but she was so mean to Naruto and everything that I found it hard.

I never noticed Kakashi was about to chidori Pakkun, and I just rewatched the wave arc not too long ago! I love that arc so much, it's good to see Sasuke showing more emotion, and his rivalry with Naruto being more friendly.

I still haven't rewatched the chuunin exams though, there are too many lookin' kinda cool moments so I can't watch very many in one sitting D:

I have Ultimate Ninja one too, though I don't find it as fun as two.
Two is really fun.
Its the only game I've played where you can turn up the difficulty settings and your opponent can kick your ass to a pulp.
Plus, it has a playable character called 'Tai Jutsu Naruto'; its Naruto with Gai and Lee's suit on.
In general I love it.
At times it can be difficult though, but only if you want it to be XD

aldkjf! I started re-watching the series at the start of my winter break and the Wave arc broke my heart into a million little pieces all over again. Mostly due to the foreshadowing and ZabuHaku. Haku is ridiculously adorable. But now, I'm at VotE and watching that is seriously like someone stabbing a dull knife into my slashy, slashy, sasugay worshipping heart.

Sakura... *cringes* Really not a huge fan of her. But I feel that way with most of the Konoha girls.

Sometimes, when Naruto's on screen, I just want to squish him. He's so adorable.

I know, it's so sad, with Haku in the snow and everything and Sasuke being all fake!dead! It's such a great arc, because it could so easily just be filler, you know, but it's not at all.

I'm not much of a fan of Sakura either, she's never going to be one of my favourite characters, but I just feel as if I should like her, you know.

He's too adorable. And clueless. I love him!!!
