ant's very big weekend
Okay, this may not seem like much to other people, but keep in mind that I have Chronic Fatigue, and normally going for a 30 minute walk a day is my limit!!!
Friday
* Went to the football. It was Saints vs Bulldogs, so I was meeting my old housemate, who just got married to this gorgeous Korean girl, and I can't figure out why, because he's such a big lump of idiot!! They seem very happy though. Her cousins also came and my nephew. My nephew and my old housemate made stupid puns all through the game and kept trying to squish me because I was sitting between them. It was a game full of laughs. Except for the part where my team played TERRIBLY for the last three quarters and lost. That part really sucked.
* Finished watching Honey & Clover. Pretty much the most annoying j-drama ever. Except for Toma, Toma was good. But that GIRL WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE A GENIUS ARTIST AND HER PAINTINGS SUCK? I KIND OF HATE HER. Has anyone else seen it? What do you think?
* Being kind of depressed about my team, I spent half the night downloading Arashi interviews and variety shows. It made me very happy!! And now I have many things to post in my Arashi post, which I will make later.
Saturday
* Watched Kimi wa Petto
Greatest show ever!! OMG, I WANT MATSUJUN TO BE MY PUPPY!!!
Seriously, though, how could ANYONE have adorable puppyJun living in their house and NOT jump him? That is insane. I loved how he did the puppy pose of submission and barked at the stupid journalist guy and when she wouldn't give him food, how he did the puppy whine. So cute!! I want a Momo! And LOL, when he was sulking at her and put the tomatoes in her shoes!
I really liked her character too. I liked how although she became less cold, she didn't lose who she was. I think that was really well done.
And OMG WHEN HE PUSHED HER UP AGAINST THE DRINK MACHINE AND KISSED HER!!! I DIED, I LITERALLY DIED! BUT WAS THEN BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE BY THE ABSOLUTE HOTNESS OF MATSUJUN!
I liked the random therapist guy too, he was funny.
I think the whole theme of unconditional love was explored really well, too. Because you do feel like that about your pets, they're always there for you and never let you down, and there aren't really any people who are like that. I've actually thought in the past that if I could love other people like I loved my dog, then I'd be so much happier with the world in general.
I could probably say more, but it would just be more of OMG MATSUJUN, SO CUTE!! I WANT TO CUDDLE ON THE COUCH WITH HIM AND HAVE HIM CHEER ME UP WHEN I'M HAVING A BAD DAY!
* Took a break from that to go see Duran Duran and Smashing Pumpkins at V Festival
Though, it was very hard to tear myself away from Kimi wa Petto!!
We missed Modest Mouse, because they were on at like 3 or something and there was nothing else we wanted to see until like 8, but that's okay.
I don't really like Duran Duran so much, but I do like "Hungry Like the Wolf", and luckily that was the second song they played!! I expected Simon Le Bon to be very fat and have funny hair, and I was disappointed on both counts, he just looked like some middle-aged guy who was up there doing a job he was totally bored of. His hair was very flat.
After that, we went to get our spot for the Pumpkins. It was funny, because the festival was put on by Virgin, you could text messages and they'd come up on the big screen, and there were some very funny ones. Somebody texted the football scores to say that Hawthorn had won, and I yelled out YAY, GO HAWKS, very loudly and the people around us were kind of amused at my boganness. All the people in the crowd around us were very nice and we had some pleasant conversations while we waited.
It was such a weird festival, I felt like I was back in the 90s, everyone had 90s hair and 90s clothes. It made me feel very nostalgic for my misspent youth.
So, the Pumpkins came out and started playing "Today", and everyone went crazy. Billy got the crowd to sing like the whole first verse and everyone was just like putting their hands in the air and screaming along, it was awesome.
Billy Corgan looked exactly the same as he did in the 90s too. I mean, I know they have a new album and everything, but I never really listened to anything after Mellon Collie, because I thought everything after that sucked a bit, so I'm not really up to date with them or anything. There was no James or D'arcy, only Billy and Jimmy on drums, and some new guy. The replacement!D'arcy was nowhere near as cool. D'arcy had the greatest hair ever and was like my idol or something. Billy was wearing a grungy old t-shirt and a long, layered silver skirt, with stripey socks and big boots. LOL.
The Pumpkins set, it was a lot like Mellon Collie, actually. You know how Mellon Collie was double album with some really awesome bits and a whole heap of whatever? This show felt like that, it went for like an hour and a half, but could've been half that long and cut out all the crap and would've been so superawesome. As it was, the superawesome bits really were SUPERAWESOME, but there were times when I was a bit bored too. Like the 20 minute song full of guitar wank.
But OMG, when they did "Tonight, Tonight", I'd never really paid much attention to the words of that song, but it really hit me all of a sudden, and it just all felt so true and right. It was very moving.
Then he got out his acoustic guitar and I was thinking he was going to do like "Mayonnaise" or something, but he started playing "1979", which is like one of my all-time favourite songs ever. It's one of those songs that when you hear it, you can smell and taste and feel exactly where you were at a point in your life. I can still remember exactly what I was doing the first time I heard that song, and it just reminds me of such a good time, of driving around town with a car full of my best friends, and skipping class and playing Nintendo, and falling in love with the wrong boy at the right time.
He played it so well too. Everyone was screaming and singing along and there was just this feeling in the crowd of getting back something we'd all lost a long time ago. It made me cry.
Of course everyone went crazy to "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and "Cherub Rock" and songs like that as well. It was a very good time. I screamed a lot. XD I really didn't want it to ever end.
When we were leaving, I had a hotdog on a stick, and this guy comes up to me and he's all like "Can I have a bite?", and I actually thought about it for a second, but then I thought I don't know where this guy has been, I don't want his mouth on my food!! If it had've been chips or something, sure, but hotdog on a stick, that's kind of intimate. He was really offended when I said no, but I think he was kind of a jerk for asking.
Anyway, it was a really fun time and I'm glad I went. Though, it made me feel really old.
* Came home and finished watching Kimi wa Petto. What an awesome day!
Sunday
* So tired and very sick! Can barely move!
* Started watching Gokusen 2
Jin is so cute!! Jin and Kame are so in love!
But I miss Shin. How could they not even mention him? I have decided this is because Yankumi realised she loved him after he left and now nobody dares speak his name around her. I WAS HAPPY TO SEE KUMA THOUGH!! HELLO, KUMA!
Have they actually cut and pasted the script from season 1?? Because it is exactly the same, LOL, my sister and I were actually saying some of the lines along with Yankumi, like I'M HIS HOMEROOM TEACHER and so forth.
LOL and it's a bit like they kind of cut Shin's character in half and gave one part to Jin and the other to Kame. Then added a bit of boylove for fun. I really miss Shin though.
I'm only up to episode 3, so I might have more to say later.
* Went to see Nick Cave: In Conversation
Basically, this was just a bunch of people sitting around, asking Nick Cave increasingly wanky questions. Though his son was there and asked him if he'd ever slept with Kylie Minogue, which was funny. And some guy asked him if when he was bumming around at home, did he wear a tracksuit, and he said he did. A velvet one. All the other questions were kind of dumb though, like about the movies and his book, but phrased REALLY wankily. He was really good though, his answers were really funny, and Mick Harvey was there and awesome, as always.
They did a couple of songs, that stupid "Love Letter" song and "The Mercy Seat", which is another all-time favourite, and he talked about how he's having a statue erected of himself in Warricknabile or somewhere, it's like that Napoleon picture where he's on the horse... the name escapes me... Marengo or something??? Anyway, it's like 50 foot tall, which is two feet taller than the Big Pineapple!! It was funny.
I wish he'd shave off his porn moustache though, it just looks silly!!
* It was my coffee boy's last night of work
We made him a pretty card that had little coffee cups on it, and wrote many things in it. I wrote him a poem of awesomeness (You are going away, just like Sally on Home and Away, things like that), and other things too.
We stayed after the cafe closed to have a drink with him (though I only had lemonade, because I was so exhaused and sick by then), and talked for a while. It was kind of melancholy though. It won't be the same without him, it used to be so nice to just go there on a Sunday night or whatever and he'd be playing like Matt Ward or Sufjan Stevens and my sister would do the Sudoku and I'd do some writing and it would be so relaxed and good, and he'd make stupid jokes and good coffee. I will miss him very much.
Golly, I start Japanese classes today and I'm running late!! I probably had more things to say, but I'd better go!!! <3

I KNOW, I'M LIKE A LITERARY GENIUS OR SOMETHING, RIGHT!!! He liked it a lot, too, so that was good.
Japanese classes were awesome! <333

I tried watching Honey & Clover, there are not many josei around, but it was too annoying and I dropped it after one episode. The cherry blossoms were pretty though.
Kimi wa Petto is super cute. And the therapist with his dog.
It seems you did a lot of other fun things.
Good luck with Japanese!
You might want to use your headers in text too. After clicking through the first lj-cut, I had to go back to see what the other sections were about.no subject
Yeah, the cherry blossoms were pretty. I wish I'd have been as smart as you and stopped watching it, but I have this thing where if I start watching something I have to see it through to the end, because I have to know what happens, no matter how annoying it is!!!
Yes! The therapist with his dog was hilarious. I was like "does he keep calling that dog a different name??? Or are they different dogs that just look the same??" but there was actually an explanation for it!!! Seriously, there was nothing I didn't love about that show. Thank you so much for linking me to it!!! (It was you, wasn't it??? I'm pretty sure it was! <3)
Ahhh, you're totally right about the header thing!! I'll fix that up.

If you mean the youtube links and general nagging, then yes, it was me.

But it sounds like you had a wonderful time! :)
Are you feeling better today?
(Oh yeah, I updated saucynoodles. Fic's first 8 pages are up. Working on chapter 2 now...)
no subject
I did have a very good time though.
I'm feeling pretty exhausted still today, usually the day after and the day after that, I feel worse and worse, but by the third day I start getting back to normal. I'm just going to take it easy for the next few days, so that's okay!!
Oooh, I will go have a look!! Probably in the morning though, I am so tired now!! <33
no subject
I was tired today, but it was all my fault... stayed up too late, got up too early and then couldn't take a nap! :(
Oh cool! I hope my writing isn't too lame......
no subject
... wait, see, I'd thought you'd meant Matsujun becoming a pet in a figurative sense. But he actually BARKS? and WHINES? o____O
Wow, I didn't recognize any of the singers/bands you mentioned, except for Modest Mouse. XD Although that guy's sort of rude, asking you for a bite of your hot dog. =_=
:D Have fun at your Japanese class! :)
no subject
YES, HE BARKS AND WHINES AND IS GENERALLY PUPPY-LIKE!! But not all the time, sometimes he is A GENIUS OF MODERN DANCE! Totally awesome, y/y?
LOL, well Duran Duran are from the 80s, I only know them because of my sister really. Smashing Pumpkins were a really huge grunge band in the 90s, and Nick Cave is this guy who sings awesome songs about killing people and stuff like that. He also writes books and movies and does paintings. He's pretty awesome.
OMG YES, WHO ASKS FOR A BITE OF SOMEBODIES HOTDOG?? IT IS SO WRONG!! Though, afterwards it made me feel sick, so maybe I should've given him the whole thing. I was so hungry though!
My Japanese class was awesome!
no subject
I will have to see the barking and whining part before I can get over my mental image of him on his hands and knees scuffling around on the floor. XP ... OMG WAIT THAT SOUNDED REALLY REALLY REALLY WRONG D: I REALLY DIDN'T MEAN IT THAT WAY BUT THEN I JUST READ IT AND--AHAHA YEAH.
XD I don't really know many bands; I used to only listen to classical music and didn't start to expand beyond that until like last year. And I pick up a lot of my modern music knowledge from AMVs, fanmixes XP and YouTube, so it's all really piecemeal.
w00t for your Japanese class! :D
no subject
IT'S OKAY, WHEN IT'S MATSUJUN, EVEN IN A WRONG SORT OF CONTEXT IT IS STILL INCREDIBLY HOT!! But yeah, when I first heard about that show, I thought she kept him as a pet in a weird sexual way (because honestly, who wouldn't), but it wasn't like that at all, it was more sort of about unconditional love. BUT HE DOES SCUFFLE AROUND ON HIS HANDS AND KNEES!! IT IS VERY CUTE!!
Ahhh, see my older sister is very into music, so I grew up listening to like Sex Pistols records and stuff. It's always been a big interest of mine, to the point where I once produced/hosted a music show on community tv!! That kind of burned me out on music for a while though, it was a lot of work!!!
no subject
Hmm.... I guess I'll go ahead and put the show on my huge long to-do list of things to watch/read. XDDD Although I'm still a little wary, but why not? :P
Wow, you produced/hosted a music show? :DDD That's so hardcore! (and especially with your chronic fatigue, that must have been so much work) I am slowly educating myself in contemporary music now! My friends at school are amazed when I recognize band names! XDD
no subject
Seriously, you won't regret it! I think Kimi wa Petto is maybe my favourite j-drama so far!!
LOL, actually I think the chronic fatigue was actually a product of the music show! I wasn't sick while I did it (there's no way I would've been able to, I was doing like 20 hour days and stuff!), but then after I stopped I got sick. People tend to get it after they push themselves to hard, it seems.
Yay, go you!! If you ever want any recs, I'll give you a bunch!!! <3
no subject
o_O Oh wow, 20 hour days? DD: Well, I'm glad you stopped doing that, it sounds terribly exhausting. :/
Okay! XD
no subject
btw started with hana kimi and you were right!!! IT'S CHANGING MY LIFE!!
XDDDDDDD
Hehe watching super 14?
Japanese classes???? Wish I was you!!
no subject
I AM GLAD HANA KIMI IS CHANGING YOUR LIFE!!! YAY!! THERE IS A WHOLE WORLD OUT THERE OF AWESOME J-DRAMA FOR YOU NOW!!! LOL, I wish I could go back to when I hadn't seen all those awesome shows, so that I could REWATCH THEM AGAIN ALL FRESH!!
Japanese class is awesome!! I want to learn everything!
